Survival kits: Provide emergency supplies for you and your family.
DO YOU HAVE A SURVIVAL KIT READY TO USE IN A TIME OF AN EMERGENCY?
Lets consider the possibility that in the near future due to global warming this planet could see a radical increase in climate change. Uncontrollable flooding, heatwaves, earthquakes just to mention a few will inevitably place you, your family and loved ones in a position where you might have to evacuate at a moments notice. Will you depend on the local emergency services to give you adequate food, water and shelter? I'm sure that you will already be aware of global changes around the world, are you honestly going to say that it will never happen to you?
The three most basic and important requirements to stay alive – Water / Food / Shelter. Imagine hundreds if not thousands lining up in a cue to get such items. Your partner is stressed, your children/friends are in shock and you have absolutely nothing to give them apart from emotional and physical support. Who knows when either of the two will run out……
Most people won't think about this scenario as it may be too much to handle or they place too much of an expectation on emergency services to perform should the time come. The problem is, when it does it will be too late. You will literally be caught off guard because instead of planning for your own safety and well being you have decided to buy a brand new flat screen tv, or xbox etc. When it happens will you ever forgive yourself? Who exactly are you going to blame???
I have a family, and I cannot begin to imagine what state of mind I will be in if a global catastrophe hits where I live. All I know is that for a few momentary sacrifices I can create a budget that will allow me to have such emergency plans should I need to evacuate my family. At a time when shock will set into the majority of people, I will take satisfaction that I will be able to provide the three most basic needs of human survival for my wife and daughter. This is my insurance plan that I will make for them. Its not that hard to do you know.
WHAT IS IN A SURVIVAL KIT? & HOW DO I FIND OUT WHAT I SHOULD HAVE IN IT?
Below you will find a store that has everything you need. Don't surprised you are about to see products and prices they are all relevant to keeping you and your love ones alive when and if the time comes to evacuate. I have placed items in separate catagories to highlight the difference between a basic survival kit and an advanced.
A basic survival kit should be enough to keep you going for 1-2 days, an advanced survival kit can sustain you from 3-5 days and maybe longer if you don't completely exhaust your supplies. The difference between these two kits is the amount of additional contents. I personally brought a large survival kit that could sustain 4 people and I also added to it ie additional first aid items, baby food, dried food or commonly known as rehydrated rations (the same as what the army issues to soldiers) baby formula etc.
You can pretty much build your kit as much or as little pending on how you percieve its importance. Bear in mind that:
- some items can be heavy and this has to be taken into consideration as you might be forced to walk great distances if road blocks or flooding will prevent conventional means of travel.
- you or someone who is in your care might be injured and you may not be able to carry everything
- if you feel you need a particular item and it seems to look heavy, look for a similiar item that is smaller
